Bedford Pumps supplies chemical process plant

Bedford Pumps Ltd has supplied two of its 700mm axial flow fish friendly pumpsets to a chemical plant in Runcorn, Cheshire in the UK, to aid in the chemical process.

INOVYN ChlorVinyls Ltd, part of INEOS, is a European producer of vinyls and the site produces chlorine, caustic soda, chlorinated derivatives and chemicals for many different industrial applications.

The pumpsets will be used to extract river water for the dilution of off-cast brine in the chemical process.  Replacing an old power station cooling water pump, the new canister mounted pumps will take water from the Manchester ship canal and pump it into the Weaver navigation at variable speeds to meet a dilution ratio which means that the brine, which has a production rate is perpetually changing, is always diluted to a set level.  Each of the pumps can generate a flow of 695 l/second at a 1m head.

In addition, Bedford Pumps supplied a multi-section canister with a cruciform inlet, fish friendly siphon breaker valves, a pump condition monitor, removal of the previous pump, installation and commissioning.
